Recently Jay-Z has caught a lot of controversy specifically from the black community, who usually holds him to a very high regard. People are very upset and confused with Mr. Z because of his decision to join forces and assumingly accept a very large coin from one of the black community's most criticized organizations aside from law enforcement; The NFL.

A single NFL team within the organization is worth a whopping 2.5 billion dollars and roughly around 68% of its players/employees are African American men (who are also making a sweet coin). All that money and power, but the NFL still has been working very hard to win back the hearts of the African American community since it blackballed activist Colin Kapernick following his decision to kneel during the national anthem. This incident was and remains a huge discussion among not only people in agreement with Colin’s right to protest and kneel , but also the proud Americans in disagreement . People shared their opinions, support, or disdain for the NFL’s actions in a number of ways. Tomi Lahren spewed her thoughts on The Blaze, Nike made a legendary award-nominated commercial , and Jay-Z encouraged people to protest and skip the super bowl (both performers and viewers).

So what change of heart did Jay-Z have to go from encouraging people not to watch the Super Bowl (NFL’s most profitable game) and even criticizing those that did , to becoming apart of the NFL’s team?

Unfortunately,I cant say for sure because i’m not Jay-Z, and have a bank statement to prove it. However, it can be assumed that Jay-Z had a realization that the best way to fight back is from the inside. While some agree with this logic, we're not to sure if Roc Nation advising the NFL on performance and entertainment can benefit the black community in any way. If anything I’d say it was more of a business deal for Jay-Z and and a strategic play for the NFL; In other words, the NFL is using Jay-Z for black points and dollars. With that being said, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Jay-Z has done countless things to try and progress the black community , pour money and resources into the betterment of the black youth , and set an amazing example for young black entrepreneurs. It also doesn’t mean Jay-Z doesn't have good intentions and a plan to turn things around in his favor.

The black community is , sensitive and highly responsive. At first thought, It’s easy to believe that because Colin K. is still out of a job , Jay-Z shouldn’t side with the NFL. Second thought, let's be real, what benefit does anyone get from Colin K being employed by the same organization he fights against everyday?

Some may say this is irrelevant, nonetheless, Colin K has received a larger platform , more notoriety, more opportunities, and possibly even more money than he ever did in the NFL. My recommendation for him is to start a football team/league for young black boys , keep doing the great activism work he does, commend Jay-Z on trying another approach, and carry on.

Going to conclude this article with a few criticisms , what a joy.

1. Jay-Z could have absolutely hired Colin K. to Roc Nation to be a part of this deal (not as a player). He may have proposed this to Colin and the offer was declined, who knows.

2. The same people that criticize Jay-Z , still tune in every Sunday for football. It is unfortunate.

That is all.
